SF shaft

The SL shaft is used in medium-torque applications requiring high misalignment compensation. This shaft is suitable for cases where frequent disassembly of drive components is not required. The Amerigear SF flexible shaft is similar to the parallel shaft configuration using flanged couplings (F Series), but the gear teeth are designed to accommodate greater misalignment. The teeth are heat-treated to enhance torque capacity, and a specially molded large-angle lip seal is used to ensure sealing performance under high misalignment conditions. Additionally, the SF Series offers a short-coupled version to suit space-constrained installations.

SL shaft

The SL shaft is used for medium-torque applications that require high misalignment compensation and in situations where the equipment must be disconnected quickly and/or frequently. The SL shaft can also be used in applications where the center-to-center distance between equipment is minimal and diameter constraints are present. The Amerigear SL flexible shaft is designed to transmit maximum torque within confined spaces while accommodating relatively large misalignment. The quick-release sleeve design enables fast and easy installation or removal of the shaft without disassembling the driving or driven equipment. The gear sleeve is securely retained to the adapter by a proprietary locking ring design, ensuring safety and stability during operation.

SM shaft type 1

  • Provides maximum torque transmission under severe shock load conditions, while still operating effectively at relatively large misalignment angles.
  • Gear components are manufactured from medium carbon steel and forged alloy steel, with heat-treated gear tooth surfaces. The hub gear teeth are fully crowned to ensure maximum torque transfer with minimal backlash.
  • The one-piece molded lip seal is designed to operate under misalignment conditions, providing the most effective sealing performance: retaining lubricant inside and preventing the ingress of dust and contaminants from the outside.
  • All shafts are designed so that the contact point of the thrust button lies precisely on the centerline of the gear mesh. This allows for ball-and-socket-type motion, rather than sliding motion that would occur if the contact point were located on the thrust plate.

SM shaft type 2

This optional shaft configuration features a replaceable gear ring at both the roll end and the drive end. The gear ring is connected to the adapter via a tight-fitting spline, using a flat root side fit engagement. The gear ring is held concentric with the adapter by precision-machined pilot surfaces at both ends of the spline engagement. If the gear ring is damaged for any reason, it can be replaced in significantly less time than it would take to replace a sleeve with an integral gear, and it is also much more cost-effective.

SM shaft type 3

This shaft configuration features a replaceable splined sleeve option. The design includes an adapter mounted to the pinion shaft and an intermediate splined sleeve that engages with the adapter. This sleeve also incorporates an internal gear that meshes with the hub. This design is particularly well-suited for applications requiring quick assembly and disassembly. Additionally, it allows a single replaceable sleeve to be used flexibly at both ends of the shaft.

SM shaft type 4

This configuration is commonly used in cases where diameter constraints prevent the use of a gear ring at the roll end. The hub shafts are interchangeable in this design. This option allows the adapter at the pinion end of the pinion shaft to remain in place when replacing the gear ring, making maintenance faster and more convenient.
